“The Small Town Project is dedicated to revitalizing our community. We organize social activities and events to enhance our community and promote community involvement.”
Events have direct and indirect impacts on communities. They provide opportunities for participation, skills development, volunteering, and social, cultural economic and environmental developments. Community events and festivals can attract tourists and visitors at regional, national and even international level. Community events can also help to capture attention and promote our small town.
We believe that by organizing community-friendly events from diverse areas of interest and promoting inclusivity we can bring the community together for fun, entertaining, educational and engaging activities that can contribute to the quality of life by strengthening the community, building awareness of diverse cultures and identities, and acting as a source of community pride.
We have started by organizing the Rocky Ford Fall Festival in October 2019. This community event sets the stage for a future of events like festivals, fairs, parades, concerts, games, tournaments, mixers, and galas hosted by the Small Town Project. We will also partner with other local organizations to create a synergy that will enhance other local events.
SOCIAL ACTIVITY PROJECTS
Cinco de Mayo Fiesta
We are organizing our main social activities around a community Cinco de Mayo Fiesta to be held around May 5thin Rocky Ford. Rocky Ford and the lower Arkansas Valley area have a strong Mexican and Mexican-American history, and we strive to honor that history through this celebration.
